As part of your studies, you’ll need to perform various calculations — such as working out BMI (Body Mass Index) or cardiac output. You’ll be provided with the necessary formulas, but to get the correct answer, it’s essential to follow the correct order of operations when solving them.
In mathematics, some operations take priority over others. For example:
- Multiplication and division are done before addition and subtraction.
- Brackets and powers (exponents) have their own specific rules too.
